  • Course Description

    IBA Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance (IBA-CEIF) is pleased to offer a two-month intermediate level weekend certification course to provide an understanding of Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) and the Shariah principles governing Islamic Finance. It aims at developing a workable understanding of the reasoning and principles underlying the rules of Islamic law through the analysis of a wide variety of primary and secondary sources. The course intends to strengthen application of Fiqh in personal and commercial dealings.

    • Apprehend the general framework of Islamic laws including family, civil, and criminal laws
    • Understand the origins, sources and methods of Islamic Jurisprudence
    • Assess the sources of Islamic Jurisprudence
    • Analyze the primary and secondary sources of Shariah
    • Gain a thorough understanding of the five universal maxims of Islamic law
    • Develop a general overview of Islamic contracts and explore their different classifications
    • Appreciate the Islamic laws of inheritance
    • Learn the important Shariah Guidelines related to Zakat
