16th Nov, 2016: How to Expedite Litigation in Islamic Banking Disputes in Court

IBA Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance conducted a Distinguished Leadership Dialogue on "How to Expedite Litigation in Islamic Banking Disputes in Court" by Mr. Shahid Shafiq in collaboration with the Sindh Judicial Academy on the 16th of November, 2016.

Mr. Shahid Shafiq, former Banking Judge, and currently the Senior Faculty Member at the Sindh Judicial Academy discussed the issues relevant to stages of a case filed in a banking court, role of each stakeholder in proceedings, causes of delays in disposal, overview of relevant laws, understanding of Islamic banking concepts and apex courts' decisions on Islamic banking transactions. The discussion was well attended by bankers, financiers and bank's legal councils. The purpose of the session was to create awareness about legal issues and help in expediting the litigation process for Islamic banking disputes in courts.
